Vitamins are also known as organic compound which is used as a nutrient in smaller amounts in many organisms. The word vitmain obtained from the combination of two words like ‘vital’ and ‘mineral’ . In the same way a compound is also called as vitamin when the synthesiezing process is done insufficiently in organisms. In certain cases vitamins are obtained from regular diets. Vitamins depend on both circumstances and especially on specific organism like ascorbic acid acting as vitamin C in many animals.
Several other vitamins suchas vitamin d and k shows their prescence in human diet regularly. Consumers should know that word vitamin doesn’t mean everything required by a body, as it contains few of them such as dietary minerals, essential fatty acids, and essential amino acids . Consumers should keep information that vitamins are used on the basis of their biological and chemical activities, and not based on the structure. Several vitamins get inter-converted in the body depending on the type of cases.
Vitamins play an important role in the functioning of human body due to its diverse nature of biochemical functions such as hormones, antioxidants, mediators in cell signalling, helping in regulating the cells of the body, and tissue growth and differentiation . Several vitamins functions as precursors for many enzymes cofactor bio-molicules acting as catalysts and substrates in the metabolism processes of the body. When act as catalyst vitamins are strained like enzymes called as prosthetic groups. Vitamins also called as co-enzymes for transporting chemical groups in various enzymes.
